Mumbai: (news.kvartha.com 18.12.2020) The Maharashtra government has given permission for outdoor sports training in the state such as cricket, football, and tennis. The central government had banned sports training and competitions since March as part of a nationwide lockdown following the epidemic.  The government's announcement was a great relief to thousands of national and international athletes who have not been able to train for the past nine months. Several sports organizations from different parts of the country had approached the government seeking permission to resume sports training. Permission to hold sports competitions in the state is also likely to be granted soon. Two weeks ago, MBA president Arun Lakhani and tournament secretary Mankesh Kashikar visited state sports minister Sunil Kedar and requested him to resume badminton activities in the state. Ajay Padnekar Mumbai: (news.kvartha.com 21.09.2020) Ten people were killed when a three-storied building collapsed in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra's Thane district. The three-storied Gilani building at Patel compound in Narpoli, Bhiwandi, collapsed at around 3.40 am on Monday while the residents were asleep. Fifteen people were injured in the accident. Twenty-five people were rescued by locals and officials from the wreckage. According to preliminary reports, 20-25 people are still trapped. Rescue operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are still ongoing.  The loss of lives in the building collapse incident at Bhiwandi, Maharashtra is quite distressing. Ajay Padnekar Mumbai: (news.kvartha.com 21.05.2020) A 60-year-old Covid patient died on the road at Wagle Estate in Thane district of Maharashtra. The Covid test was conducted on Monday morning following a high fever. The next day, he was taken to the Shivaji Hospital in Kalwa but denied admission due to the unavailability of beds. Then he was taken to the Thane District Hospital where he could not get admitted due to the lack of space. Later on Wednesday, his condition worsened and a neighbor called for an ambulance. The ambulance reached after two hours without a doctor or any medical staff. At the same time, he also received his test report confirming Covid positive. Thiruvananthapuram: (news.kvartha.com 11.04.2020) Seven new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today. Four persons from Kasargod district and one each from Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts are those who tested positive. Four of them have returned from Maharashtra, one each from Chennai and Kuwait, and one have got the infection through local contact. Meanwhile, no patient under treatment for Coronavirus tested negative today. Currently, 27 patients are under treatment in different hospitals in the State. This was informed by the Minister for Health, Smt K K Shailaja in a release. Till yesterday, 1,307 persons have come back from abroad. Out of these, 650 have been quarantined at their homes, 641 at Covid Care Centres and 16 in hospitals. The train departed from Bhiwandi in Mumbai was scheduled to leave at 9 pm on Saturday night, had delayed for several hours due to passengers screening. At the same time, the first special train that left Nashik on Saturday morning with migrant workers reached Lucknow via Kanpur. Following the lockdown, which came into effect on March 25, the "Shramik Special" trains, which have been launched under the guidance of the Union Home Ministry, have started functioning from saturday to return migrant workers and students stranded in different parts of the country. The Centre on Friday allowed liquor and tobacco shops to resume operations in all districts but with certain restrictions. The new rules will be applicable from Monday. State government is likely allow liquor and tobacco shops to open again in green and orange zones as well as outside the containment areas or hotspots in red zones. The government has, however, said it that the shopkeepers must ensure a two-metre distance between all customers. The liquor and tobacco shops inside malls or shopping complexes will remain closed. Twenty-one new cases were reported yesterday in Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia. The number of coronavirus positive cases in the district rose by 19 to 394 on Sunday night with 12 deaths so far. All the restrictions imposed in the district will remain in force without any relief. The areas classified as the containment zone include the municipal corporation limits of Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mira Bhayander, Kalyan Dombivili, Ulhasnagar, and Bhiwandi- Nizampur.
