Migrant worker’s protest on the street, Mumbai Police registers FIR against Journalist for Spreading rumours

Mumbai: (news.kvartha.com 16.04.2020) A journalist of Marathi news channel has been arrested over his alleged report that trains would start service for stranded migrant workers, which resulted in huge gathering outside railway station in Bandra on Tuesday.
Reporter with Marathi News Channel ABP Majha, Rahul Kulkarni has been arrested from his home town in Osmanabad district for allegedly spreading fake news. Nearly 3000 migrant workers gathered outside Bandra railway station in Mumbai on Tuesday 14th April demanding for trains to take them home. This happened hours after Prime Minister extended the lockdown to May 3 to keep check on the spread of coronavirus infection.
Besides the reporter, police also registered case against the president of Uttar Bhartiya Maha Panchayat Association, Vinay Dubey who had posted a video on social media provoking thousands of daily wage workers.
The police suspect his social media messages contributed to the protest by more than 3,000 migrant workers, most of them from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, near Bandra railway station on Tuesday afternoon. He has been arrested by Mumbai Police and remanded in custody until April 21.
