Maharashtra Election Commission today revoked the cancellation of recognition of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) after the party paid Rs 1 lakh as penalty and submitted the income tax audit report for years through 2010 and 2015.
Election Commission secretary NJ Wagle issued the notice and communicated the same to party headquarters in Hyderabad.
Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM, along with 190 other political parties, was de-registered by the state election commission, for not filing proof of tax returns and audit accounts.
AIMIM has been trying to expand its base in Maharashtra and contest the Municipal Corporation election in Mumbai. The party emerged successful in its first attempt in 2014 state elections when it won twp seats in the legislate assembly
