Honda Jazz is all set for its second innings in India. This premium hatch is again getting ready to ride on the Indian roads on July 8 2015. The New Honda Jazz was unveiled in 2014 during the Auto Expo held in Delhi. To be offered in both petrol and diesel engines, the new Jazz will be equipped with good looks, better interiors and greater comfort. If the hawk-eyed look is anything to go by, car lovers in the country will have a very good-looking vehicle on the roads. The new car is built on a new platform and hence it is expected to deliver better performance than its predecessor did.

Although the exact pricing is not yet known, it is rumored that the Jazz will be carrying a price tag ranging from 4.5 lakh to 7.5 lakh rupees. As pricing was one of the major reasons for the failure of the first edition of the car, Honda would have given great thought and put a lot of effort to arrive at a competitive price for this beautiful hatch.

The car will be equipped with i-VTEC and i-DTEC engines, which could be offered in both manual and automatic transmissions. From whatever little we have seen of the car, it certainly looks a lot more appealing, spacious and hence comfortable than the earlier one. Although the saloon like feel is carried over to this model as well, the car has a fresh appeal and look.

Mileage: A Crucial factor?

Indians are known to be obsessive on mileage. Many cars do not find favour among the average Indian car buyer only because they offer lesser mileages than the rivals do. The Honda Jazz is equipped with a 1.2 liter engine with SOHC and i-VTEC system to ensure performance and dependability. The engine can produce 91.2PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. The 1.5-liter i-DTEC engine is more powerful as it can generate 100 PS of power and 200 NM of torque. Although the company is claiming mileages of 18 kmpl and 21.3 kmpl for petrol and diesel engines, in reality the figures are bound to be lower. Hence, the car may not find favour with the average Indian buyer. However, since the car is positioned in the premium hatchback segment, chances are the buyers may not be very touchy about the mileages.

As far as mileages are concerned, the car is not the best in the market. However, it would take us some time to see how the car fares in real life conditions. The infamous road conditions in India in all probability could push the figures further down.
