Pathanamthitta: In a distressing incident, A.T. Satheesh, the former personal assistant to MLA Raju Abraham, lost a staggering Rs 7 lakh after his mobile phone was hacked. The incident took place in Ranni, Kerala. Satheesh's Union Bank of India account was targeted by cybercriminals who managed to siphon off the money in multiple transactions. Despite being alerted to suspicious activity, Satheesh initially dismissed the messages as they arrived while he was driving. Investigations revealed that the hackers had gained access to Satheesh's WhatsApp account a week prior to the financial heist. They created a fraudulent WhatsApp group impersonating the bank and added Satheesh as a member. Gangster Vikram Paras, wanted in more than 100 cases of murder, robbery and extortion, escaped from the busy Old Delhi railway station early Wednesday morning after drugging his four Delhi Police escorts and taking away four MP5 sub-machine guns the cops were carrying, police sources said. Paras, who gained notoriety as the right-hand man of slain ganglord Neetu Dabodia, was being brought back to Delhi by train after a court appearance in Bathinda. Three of the Delhi Armed Police escorts were found unconscious in the railway station — two on platform number 1 and another in the parking lot — while the fourth was loitering on the streets in a dazed state. All four have been suspended. This is Paras' second escape in as many years. In 2012, he had fled after luring his escorts into a store on the promise of buying them branded apparel. He had also orchestrated the daring escape of Dabodia and another gangster from Dwarka last year. .

New Delhi, Jan 31  Five people held for cheating finance compmany, including two officials from a private bank, accused of taking loans worth over Rs.2 crore by depositing fake gold biscuits, have been arrested, police said Monday. Dyes used for making the fake gold biscuits have also been seized. Dheeraj Sachdeva, 25, Matloob Saifi, 29, Sandeep Verma, 36, Daljeet Singh, 33 and Charanjeet, 56, were arrested from near the DDA Sports Complex in Dwarka Sector-11 in west Delhi. Sachdeva and Saifi worked in the Muthoot Fin Corp, Charanjeet is a dye-maker and Singh a goldsmith. The company had filed a complaint earlier this month claiming that three customers had deposited fake gold to avail loan. Sachdeva and Saifi selected the bank branches from where the loan was to be taken. When Verma visited the branch with fake gold bars, the loan was approved easily. They took loans from bank branches in Najafgarh, Darya Ganj, Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Dwarka and Bhajanpura.

Melbourne, Jan 29 (IANS) Crime by minors is soaring in Australia as nearly 300 children under 10 years have been charged with offences like rape and arson, a newspaper has revealed. The Herald Sun got access to statistics allegedly kept hidden by police in Victoria state that would expose at least 288 children investigated for 305 serious offences in the past five years. The crimes include burglary, car theft, drugs, weapons and explosives. But because the suspects were aged under 10, and the law states that they do not know right from wrong, the accused children cannot be charged with any crime. London, Jan 28 (IANS) An employee of the British police has admitted in court to have collected over 110,000 child porn images. Nicholas White, 27, has admitted 20 counts of possessing indecent images and two of possessing extreme images at Cambridge Crown Court, the Daily Mail reported. White, from Royston town in Hertfordshire county, had been employed since June 2008 and resigned after his arrest in last February. He worked as a communications officer employed by Cambridgeshire police. He has been slapped with charges covering over 110,000 images including photographs and videos of eight-year-olds and extreme pictures of children engaged in sex acts with animals. Nerida Harford-Bell, defending White, asked for a psychiatric report to be compiled before sentencing, as White had a history of self harm. G.G.V. Vijay Raghav, chief financial officer, EHTPL, was produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody till Jan 30. He was shifted to Chanchalguda Central Jail As the judge of the special CBI court was on leave, the accused, who is also the Emaar MGF's finance head for south, was produced in the economic offences court. The judge directed the CBI to produce him in the regular court on Monday. The CBI petition, seeking custody of the accused for 15 days, would also come up for hearing the same day. Bhubaneswar, Jan 28  A team of experts from New Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Saturday arrived in Odisha to examine the state of a girl who has slipped into coma since after her gangrape, an official said. The four-member team of leading doctors in forensic medicine, gynecology, DNA and toxicology examined the girl at the Sriram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, 26 km from here, a police officer said. "The medical experts are doing examination of the victim for medico-legal purpose and will give their report in due course," the official told IANS. The 19-year-old was allegedly gangraped Nov 28 by some people near her village Arjunagoda, barely 10 km from this capital city. Mexico City, Jan 26 (IANS/EFE) Mexico is one of the world's biggest producers of child pornography, and is also a source, transit and destination country for people involved in sexual exploitation, a lawmaker has said. Child pornography generates $42 billion annually, and is the No.2 illegal business in the country, only behind drug trafficking, said Special Committee to Fight People Trafficking chairwoman Rosi Orozco. Native Indians account for about 45 percent of the victims of child pornography, she said. Just 19 regions in Mexico have laws against child pornography, and only courts in Mexico City, Chiapas state and Puebla state have handed down convictions.
