5,537 new cases and 6,119 recoveries today, total 77,813 active cases 57,202 sample tests in last 24 hours
Thiruvananthapuram: (news.kvartha.com 12.11.2020) 5,537 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today even as 6,119 patient recoveries were confirmed. 4,683 people were infected through contact and the contact source for 653 was unknown. There were 61 medical personnel among those infected. Meanwhile, 25 deaths were confirmed as caused by Covid taking the related death toll in the state to 1,796.
57,202 samples were tested in the last 24 hours with a test positivity rate of 9.68%. Till now, a total of 53,07,067 samples have been sent for testing.
The figures for the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Thrissur 706, Kozhikode 646, Malappuram 583, Alappuzha 553, Ernakulam 254, Palakkad 264, Kollam 386, Thiruvananthapuram 286, Kannur 259, Kottayam 337, Idukki 137, Pathanamthitta 99, Kasargod 97 and Wayanad 76.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Ernakulam 13, Thiruvananthapuram & Kannur 8 each, Pathanamthitta & Kozhikode 7 each, Thrissur 6, Wayanad 4, Palakkad 3, Malappuram & Kasaragod 2 each and Idukki 1.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 304, Kollam 578, Pathanamthitta 165, Alappuzha 371, Kottayam 394, Idukki 250, Ernakulam 1,008, Thrissur 1,062, Palakkad 299, Malappuram 569, Kozhikode 786, Wayanad 83, Kannur 214 and Kasargod 36.
So far, 4,28,529 people have recovered from Covid in the State while at present, there are 77,813 patients undergoing treatment for the same.
There are a total of 3,15,583 people in isolation across various districts of the state - 2,96,773 at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 18,810 in hospitals. 1,993 persons were hospitalised today.
Four places in Alappuzha, Kozhikode and Ernakulam districts were declared as hotspots today even as 10 areas were exempted. Presently, there are 616 hotspots in Kerala.

Of those diagnosed today, 140 have come to the state from outside.
