7,482 new cases and 7,593 recoveries today, total 93,291 patients under treatment, 56,093 sample tests in last 24 hours
Thiruvananthapuram: (news.kvartha.com 22.10.2020) Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan informed that 7,482 new active cases of Covid-19 were reported in Kerala today. 6,448 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection was unknown for 844. There are 67 healthcare workers among those infected. At the same time, 7,593 patients were cured of Coronavirus infection today.
The district-wise figures for the new positive cases are Kozhikode 932, Ernakulam 929, Malappuram 897, Thrissur 847, Thiruvananthapuram 838, Alappuzha 837, Kollam 481, Palakkad 465, Kannur 377, Kottayam 332, Kasargod 216, Pathanamthitta 195, Wayanad 71 and Idukki 65. Of those diagnosed, 123 persons have travelled to the State from outside.
The numbers of those infected through contact in the districts are Kozhikode 865, Ernakulam 718, Malappuram 821, Thrissur 835, Thiruvananthapuram 628, Alappuzha 809, Kollam 478, Palakkad 226, Kannur 295, Kottayam 320, Kasargod 203, Pathanamthitta 152, Wayanad 62 and Idukki 36.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 13, Kannur 12, Kozhikode 9, Ernakulam & Thrissur 7 each, Malappuram 6, Kasaragod 4, Pathanamthitta & Palakkad 3 each, and Kollam, Kottayam and Wayanad 1 each.
The tally of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 909, Kollam 750, Pathanamthitta 250, Alappuzha 769, Kottayam 167, Idukki 94, Ernakulam 414, Thrissur 1170, Palakkad 239, Malappuram 731, Kozhikode 1153, Wayanad 120, Kannur 572 and Kasaragod 255.
At present, there are 93,291 patients still undergoing treatment in the state while so far, a total of 2,74,675 people have recovered from Kovid.
There are 2,80,926 people totally under observation across the state, 2,57,733 under home or institutional quarantine and 23,193 in hospitals. 3,164 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
56,093 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 41,47,822 samples have been sent for testing.
Eight new places were demarcated as hotspots today even as seven areas were exempted. Presently, there are 618 hotspots in Kerala.
23 deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 1,255. The deceased are Hariharan (56), Kuttappan (72), Sasidharan (70), Nasser (56) & Anil (47) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Sharadamma (72) & Nawabudin (58) from Kollam district, Ramakrishnan Pillai (83) from Alappuzha district, Sainaba Beevi (96) from Kottayam district; Tresa Lonan (89), Basheer (60), K K Pushpa (68), Salma Seidu Mohammad (55) & Soudamini Amma (78) from Ernakulam district, Ramakrishnan (70) & Shameer (41) from Thrissur district; Hamsa (58), Kunjipathumma (63), Leela (60), Mammadutty (65) & Nafisa (72) from Malappuram district, and Ibrahim (64) & Majeed (73) from Kozhikode district
