7,020 new cases & 8,474 recoveries today, Total 91,784 patients under treatment, 54,339 sample tests in last 24 hours
Thiruvananthapuram: (news.kvartha.com 29.10.2020) Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that 7,020 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Kerala today. 6,037 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection for 734 was unknown. 81 healthcare workers were among those infected. At the same time, 8,474 patients have recovered from the disease today.
26 deaths were reported today taking the Covid related death toll in the State to 1,429. The deceased are Padmavathi Amma (89), Radhakrishnan Pillai (64), Geetha (60), Mireen Elizabeth (54), Jayachandran (67), Babu (63) Ratheesh (40), Yashoda (73) & Rashid (82) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Shobhana (60), Baby (72) & Raghukumar (60) from Alappuzha district, Sanjeev (45) from Idukki district, Sulekha Aboobacker (58) from Ernakulam district, Kunju Aboobacker (75) & Praseed (42) from Thrissur district; Hamsa (53), Yahu (68), Zubaida (58), Nafisa (66) & Ahmed Kutty (69) from Malappuram district; Ibrahim (75), Kasim (64), Kumaran (67) & Muhammad Ali (72) from Kannur district, and Sarada (38) from Wayanad district.
The district-wise figures for the positive cases today are Thrissur 983, Ernakulam 802, Thiruvananthapuram 789, Alappuzha 788, Kozhikode 692, Malappuram 589, Kollam 482, Kannur 419, Kottayam 389, Palakkad 369, Pathanamthitta 270, Kasaragod 187, Idukki 168 and Wayanad 93. 168 of those diagnosed have travelled to the state outside.
The numbers of the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Thrissur 964, Ernakulam 594, Thiruvananthapuram 625, Alappuzha 686, Kozhikode 664, Malappuram 547, Kollam 469, Kannur 306, Kottayam 385, Palakkad 189, Pathanamthitta 206, Kasargod 172, Idukki 137 and Wayanad 93.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Ernakulam 21, Kannur 16, Kozhikode 13, Thiruvananthapuram 8, Kasaragod 7, Thrissur 5, Pathanamthitta & Palakkad 3 each, Kollam 2, and Alappuzha, Kottayam & Malappuram 1 each.
The district-wise numbers of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 880, Kollam 451, Pathanamthitta 199, Alappuzha 368, Kottayam 1,050, Idukki 66, Ernakulam 600, Thrissur 1,037, Palakkad 568, Malappuram 1,300, Kozhikode 1,006, Wayanad 99, Kannur 679 and Kasaragod 171.
So far, 3,25,166 people have recovered from Covid in the State and at present, there are 91,784 patients undergoing treatment for Coronavirus infection.
There are currently 2,91,964 people under isolation in various districts of the state - 2,69,424 at their homes or at institutional quarantine centres and 22,540 in hospitals. 2,887 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
54,339 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 45,31,069 samples have been sent for testing.
During his briefing, the Chief Minister said, District Collectors have been directed to set up test kiosks in public places in all districts in an effort to ramp up testing numbers in the state. 167 places have been identified and kiosks have already started functioning in 57 places. The number of cases in the State has risen to 11,280 per million as compared to the national average of 5,790. Accordingly, the number of tests has been increased. There are 1,23,524 tests per million in Kerala as against the national figure of 76,440.
Meanwhile, 22 places were designated as hotspots today while 14 areas were excluded. There are 694 hotspots in Kerala now.
