2015 has got off to a good start for the auto industry in general and the Indian car market in specific

The 2015 model of Maruti Suzuki Dzire sure has an astonishing feat to its credit. In a market that is obsessed with mileage figures, the Dzire seems to have set a new record. The model had already been giving 23 km to the ltire and the improved technology has resulted in an industry leading 26.5 kmpl. The 1.3 ltire 75 BHP mill benefits from a cutting edge thermal managements ystem that also brings to the table better fuel injection technology which helps pull off this commendable feat. Indian car buyers will surely find this to be heartening and might help push up sales figures for the new model.

Other new models that are in the news and getting launched soon are the Hyundai i20 Active. A crossover candidate, this successful Korean brand will be armed to the teeth with advanced features like projector headlights that will have daytime running lamps. The ground clearance has been jacked up to add to the effect. Spoilers on top, large alloy wheels and stylish plastic touches all over, including rails on the roof are sure to excite new buyers from a conventional hatchback look.

Renault also is back and this time they are here with an MPV. A classy looking seven seater, the Lodgy – as it has been badged – will be powered by the Duster's mill, the 1.5 ltire diesel engine that churns out 84 BHP and the pterol coming with the 1.5 ltire unit that produces 98 BHP as is present in their sedan, the Scala. It will be interesting to see how this latest etnrant into the MPV market stacks up against the likes of the Innova, the Ertiga, the Mobilio and the others.

Not to be outdone, there is also the Volkswagen Vento coming in a limited edition model called the Magnific that hits the roads in March. Sporting two distinct variants called the Highline and the Comfortline, it will be about sophistication and the latest features more than any change to the engines or dynamics. All the standard features will be retained here and the real highlights will be the presence of a state of the art Blaupunkts ystem with a focus on infotainment touches like 3G connectivtiy and front and back displays. Besides, there is navigation technology provided by Garmin and alloy wheel lovers will especially like what is being offered here. For a model like the Vento that has long been seen as staid and quiet, these interesting features should help giving it a fillip. There is a lot to look forward to when it comes to news about cars in India.
